About lillianryvers

I am the divorced mother of five and am currently attending nursing school full-time.  Since the divorce in July 2008, I've only found a couple temporary, part-time jobs and not been able to contribute much.  Due to the economy, I've also been very unsuccessful at collecting child support.

I do qualify for financial aid, but after multiple medical emergencies with my mother this semester, I had to drop a class and that terminated my financial aid for next semester.  I need $800 to pay for tuition, lab fees, and books for the summer semester and then I'll be able to get my financial aid back the following (fall) semester.

About graceunderpressure

Hi, I am the married mother of 3 in Canby, Or. I have been married to my husband for 20 years and he has been out of work almost a year due to a severe anxiety disorder and other health issues. I have been the sole supporter of our family and on October 16 I was fired from my job of 5 years as an assistant director in a childcare center becuase I made 1 human error and almost fed a bottle to a baby that did not belong to him. The huge corporation I worked for has a very black and white attitude and it made no difference that I never was written up before. Anyhow, I have been looking for work and I am apparently overqualified or under-educated. (I worked myself up from the ranks) I passed my test to get into nursing school in May, my lifelong dream but that may not happen if I can't figure out how to get employment now. I am terrified about not  having anything for my children on Christmas and obviously bills. I was hoping to get unemployment to have time to help my husband sort through and gather info to get his disability case started. (Upon recommendation from his Dr.) Today I was denied and I am feeling like a leper. I have sent out over 30 resumes, gone to countless interviews and am scouring job sites and classifieds daily. I was told I cannot receive TANF if I was fired. Any thoughts there?

Thanks for listening!

About strawberrygirl

Thank you in advance for reading my problems.  I'm 40 years old, have 2 children and a husband with a brain injury.  I'm trying to go back to school to be a RN but can't get into the program because I cannot take time off ( a year or two) from my job due to bills.  My husband is able to work but due to his accident has a brain injury and a low paying job.  My oldest child is a Senior in High School and wants to become a Equine Vet but I have no idea how we can afford to send her to college too.  We have tried for help but just make over the $ amt to qualify but we are filing for Bankruptcy and cannot pay the utility bills let alone any other bill that we have.  We have to have cars to work but are behind on payments too.  Behind on house payments and everything else.  I have the will and the ambition to better my self but I'm stuck.   Can't go to school if I have no money and cannot better myself to earn more money.  I have taken several night classes and have a 3.65 gpa.  I had a funny dream that a celebrity rented our home for 2 months and with that money we were able to pay everything that we owe and I was able to be a ER RN at our local hospital and able to help my community.  Could someone let me know what I need to do or what I am doing wrong?  It is killing me not to be able to afford school clothes and books this year for my children or anything else that we need.   Please help us......  God bless you for listening to me!!!

Hello all, I am currently a stay at home mom who filed for divorce. For the last few years my stbx would leave and not come home for up to a week at a time, I later found out that he had a drug problem. I'm an intelligent person but for the life of me I don't know why I waited for 2 1/2 years before I made the move to divorce him. It took me that long to gather the strength. Well, since this time my stbx has taken all of our money out of our joint account and will only "take" me to the store to purchase necessities. It is humiliating, we are currently living together until the divorce is final because I have no place to go at this time.

I have goals to go to nursing school, write a book and continue to be an excellent mother. All of which are within my reach but I have no stepping stones for when the divorce is final. I'm so affraid of the divorce - my stbx tells me that I will regret divorcing him (in trial) but I have done nothing wrong in our marriage. This man was gone for 2 days prior to Christmas last year - not exactly what I want my child to ever have to experience again in his whole life.

I want to be able to get on my feet and get my son into a safer enviroment. If you can contribute - I will be greatful. I have no idea how this works - I have no intention of being needy the rest of my life. I have clear plans to help me attain the future that I need. Nursing school costs just under $8000, which I find amazing - I thought it would be more. If you contribute - I will happily send class schedules or grades as they come.

Being a mother has given me strength and courage that I never had before and I look forward to my bright future.

Thanks for reading and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Desberately need help!!!!!

Desberately need help. I have no where else to turn. I am supporting two other people thats not including myself or my son. I have lent out money to other's who have not repaid. I am on the verge of loosing alot. I am 20,000 behind.

This is my story (abbreviated version). In 2002 I received a phone call from my father stating your mom is in the hodpital. I immediately flew to where they lived with my other half. At this point both my parents moved in with us. My mom was left side paralized and my dad was terminal with Pulmonary Fibrosis. My other half quit her job to take care of my parents. In 2003 my mom suddenly passed away. Then in 2004 my father passed away. During this time my other half Chris relized she wanted to be a Nurse. She now is in Nursing school. Except taking care of my parents has put us in a finacial bind. Chris has given so much up to take care of my parents and now I feel  I have failed because I can't continue to pay for Nursing school. Now my sister has become ill and is moving in with us. I have given everything I could to everybody else and have put my finacial's in jeopardy. Im not complaining because I would always be there if people needed me. I am desperately trying not to loose what I have..House, car. My bills have become behind, school tuition is due and I have to pay for my sisters move. Yes I work full time, but its still not enough. chris also works. we are struggling, but are sinking fast. Its' hard to look at my son and tell him we can't do things. He dosent understand all this yet. All he knows is now we have someone else coming to live with us. I have asked banks for loans, but keep getting denied. Somehow I need to come up with $20,000 to get caoght up. Is there anyone you can offer HELP?
